Shrub Swamps of Massachusetts.ย
Plant these at the edge of your damp areas – where it stays boggy into the summer – or around the edge of an established bog, swamp or wetland.
Massachusetts shrub swamps (pdf) are dominated by a diverse range of shrubs, with common species including alder, buttonbush, meadowsweet, winterberry, swamp azalea and highbush blueberry. While shrub swamps have less than 25% tree canopy cover by definition, the scattered trees that are present may include red maple.
Our swampy kit for 2026 includes a total of seven (7) plants:

- 1 – Winterberry (Ilex verticillata)
All kits come with a tag for each tree.
